I applied to get into Summerfair Cincinnati, which is held May 30 - June 1, 2025. It's the largest annual art fair in Greater Cincinnati and is held on the grounds where Old Coney Island once operated. As of March 7th, I have been notified that I'm on their waiting list.
My interest in art started at a young age. My brother Tim is an artist and used me as his subject in a couple paintings while I was still in grade school. I loved watching him paint from the opposite side of the canvas. I remember Tim's intense focus and the smell of oil paint as he blended globs of color and worked across the canvas. Dur

I loved watching him paint from the opposite side of the canvas. I remember Tim's intense focus and the smell of oil paint as he blended globs of color and worked across the canvas. During breaks I would study his progress and see his paintings evolve. The process itself instilled in me an appreciation for all styles of art. The ability to take a blank slate and transform it into a thing of beauty is wonderful.
I followed my brother's lead and took four years of art at Moeller High School in Cincinnati. I was fortunate to have had Brother Wanda as my teacher. He also taught my brother's Tim and Jeff. I always looked forward to art class. Brother Wanda was exceptional.
I did this sketch of a boa constrictor in my high school art class. Dig the cool abbreviated last name for a signature.
I work from photographs which I take (mostly, but not always in the past). I find beauty in depth, shadows and reflections and focus on those elements in my paintings. My goal is to tell a story through paint. I want the viewer to look at my work and ask themselves what I saw in my subject. What's the message I wanted to convey. Go there

Become part of the story.
I enjoy giving my paintings a title. They come to me while I paint and give insight into the story I saw. As you stroll through my portfolio, take a second to read the title and the short note I added. They're part of the piece. I hope my paintings make you feel something.

Please share them.

I discovered my passion. Art will be a part of my life until I can't do it anymore... whether that be taking photos, sitting in my studio painting, checking out other artists creativity, or going to a gallery or museum.
The funny thing is, I've come to find I get really attached to my paintings and don't think I could paint without being

The funny thing is, I've come to find I get really attached to my paintings and don't think I could paint without being surrounded by my work. While I stand by my saying...
"The ultimate compliment comes in the form of a sale, when someone likes my work enough to buy it and display it in their home or office", I'm in no hurry to sell my originals. Maybe someday I'll get more aggressive about getting them into circulation. Either way, our time on earth has an expiration date. I'd like to think my paintings may be hanging on a wall long after I'm gone.
